The Land (Simultaneously…)

Our relationship with the land is intrinsic. It is language, culture and belief, … it is us; territories. It extends beyond natural resources, borders, and economies; systemic, secondary — Other. The exhibition Önenha’; Wen’wa’ aims at producing dynamic motions in between past, present, and future. Our future, one that is Indigenous, technological and in perpetual flux. In this self-reflexive positioning, we investigate paradigms of Canadian pictorial histor(y)ies, topologies, and layering of space and identity, … the land as a narrative device.

Galerie She:kon, which means “hello” in Kanien’kéhà, focuses on showcasing solo exhibitions by up-and-coming Indigenous artists. This initiative aims to uncover fresh talent and provide an opportunity for those interested in curating their first exhibition.
